Custom Rims & Custom Wheels
If you have custom wheels on your car, you'll probably just say to yourself, "Pfft, I already know what this article is going to be about." If you don't know, then maybe you should take like three minutes to read it; especially if you're considering buying custom wheels for that little car of yours.
The technical definition for a Custom Wheel is something that's made to either modify or upgrade your car... which is I think, is essentially the same thing. It can make your car look sportier, it can give off the impression that the car was really expensive, or it can just make it look classier.
There are typically two types of cars that have custom wheels:
--Competition Oriented cars usually obtain lighter, stronger, and bigger wheels for the performance of the racing vehicle.
--Appearance Oriented vehicles usually have drivers that generally by custom rims that can make them stand out from the rest of he crowd.
You may think that these reasons are typical and people would want to find any reason to get these huge wheels, but there are actual concrete reasons why people prefer these wheels over Alloy Wheels and Steel Rims. Let's take racing for example, NASCAR racers like these wheels because they are lighter on their cars which means they can go faster, and if someone is Drag Racing (professionally!), they like the width of the wheel because it offers them better traction. When it comes to Custom Wheels being on "regular" cars, customers choose these because it gives them better gas mileage (since they're lighter), they look better, and it offers less tire flex which means that the driver will have better control when coming across those tight corners that you evidently have to speed on.
When the 1980s rolled around, people started noticing that more and more cars had custom wheels on them. This meant that the price of the vehicle would be more expensive, but people didn't care about paying that extra money since people were going to adore their car! When this happened, it gave the hubcap a bad impression; people said that Custom Wheels put an end to "cheap-looking" hubcaps that just pretended to be a Factory Original Aluminum Wheel.
If you go to a shop , Custom Rims are considered to be an "add-on" on most cars, but are offered on "average" cars like Scion XA Wheels , Mitsubishi Eclipse Rims , and many more. It's pretty much like if you want it, you'll most likely be able to order it, but it'll be really expensive... but it's worth it, don't ya think?
There's no possible doubt that if you happen to buy these wheels for your car, there's going to be some people out there that are going to wanna steal them-which is obviously not very nice. Because of this, manufacturers are smart enough to make special lug nuts that you can put on your car so that way there would be no way that someone can take these. They also offer something called wheel locks that requires a key for you to actually remove the wheel. Although this may seem super safe, there's no way of telling that the things you have to secure your wheel will work all the time; I mean, have you seen movies these days? They can pretty much do anything, right? Hence, if you want these rims, be my guest; I'm sure your car will look amazing! Just kind of prepare yourself for all of the "bad stuff" that may happen when you do buy them.
