Driving in Australia - A Tourist Guide

• The petrol tank should be monitored as you do not want to run out of petrol and not know where the nearest pit stop is.
• Have extra gear in the car. Car hire will normally have some sort of support service and an extra tyre in the car prior to renting it out. Make sure you know where it is prior to driving off into the sunset.
• Never drive while speaking on a mobile phone. However, it is a good idea to carry a mobile phone with you during your travels in the case of emergency. Satellite phones are recommended, especially for the Outback area.
• Maps are also normally provided by car hire companies but in case there isn't one in there have one that you have studied or ask for one from the hiring company.
