Strategic Seating Does Make A Difference

Empowering yourself by knowing where to sit

You will never imagine that such an insignificant task like choosing or creating a seating arrangement for a communication process can help in making friends or closing a deal. Ideally, you can use the under-mentioned tips as a rule of thumb in selection of seating position.

1. If you know your customer before-hand and if she is a left-handed, sit on her left and likewise if she is a right handed, sit on her right.

2. In a persuasion process between 2 men, you should be seated across from each other if possible.

3. In order to achieve effective communication between 2 women, sitting opposite each other is better than sitting in a right angle position.

4. If you are a man trying to communicate well with a female, you should be seated across from her at a smaller, more intimate table.

Things to look out for when you are seated

After choosing a strategic seat for the conversation, the next thing to take note is how you should behave during the whole process. Here are some guidelines:

1. Keep your hands away from your face and hair.

2. When seated, it is best if you can keep both feet on the floor which will help you maintain control and good body posture. People that are persistently crossing and un-crossing their feet and legs are being perceived as less credible. Fidgeting, like shaking the leg while talking is a big "NO" because it create a distraction to the other party and it is annoying. Remember this "Feet belong on the floor".

3. Never meddle with your hand while you are seated because your hands say a great deal of your comfort level. Do not pick at the fingers of one hand, you are sending negative signal of fear and discomfort to the other party's sub-conscious that will make him/her feel discomfort.

In summary, do not miss out any elements that can lead to success, even the most tiny ones.

My ultimate goal is to achieve personal growth and financial growth. With this strong desire in mind, I am taking action every day to empower myself to change my mindset from a victim to winner one.
