It's funny, whenever I hear the word TRUNK, I automatically think first of our friends the Elephants. They, without question, have the best and most dynamic trunks of all. That is not to downplay the importance of our bodies trunk (the portion above our waist and below our neck & arms), nor the mainstay of our trees, or that big thing we put all of our clothes or favorite possessions into. The list is endless it seems.

But I digress. I am writing this article about that vast cavity at the rear of our cars - that place where we put all of our really important stuff - like our golf clubs, baseball gear, gym bags, frozen food & grocery bags, and our winter safety kits. Hopefully there is also a workable jack, an inflated spare tire, some tools, a quart of oil, a set of jumper cables, and a flashlight in there! And perhaps even a fire extinguisher! Heaven forbid we would ever try to put luggage in there!!

In the old days, we cut out carpet remnants and put them over the cardboard cutouts the manufacturers put back there, which certainly quieted things down and made it look so much better. The carpet was easier on the important things we had back there, so they didn't get scratched up so easy. If we were really adventuresome, we built in sections to keep things from rolling around back there.

Now, thanks to folks like Soffseal, ACC, Highland, and others, they are actually designing and manufacturing excellent quality trunk liners and trunk mats! Your chances are pretty good that they exist to custom fit your make and model vehicle. Most of the new trunk mats are precut to fit into your trunk without any trimming. They are available for all makes and models of passenger car, so there just isn't a good excuse left anymore not to have a good looking, custom fitting, solid, sturdy, durable, long lasting trunk mat inside your car's trunk!
