Why Expanding Markets Are Key

Hey all, how is everyone doing today? Well, I hope. I want to share with you a very important topic that I have been thinking about.

You see, my wife and I recently finished our third half marathon in San Diego, CA a few months back. We both actually trained a little for this one, and we were extremely happy with our results.

The cool thing about large events such as marathons and 1/2 marathons are that they bring people from all walks of life and all countries to one place.

With all of these amazing individuals in one spot, I couldn't help think about one of the key things in business....and that is how important an expanding market is.

"What does that mean exactly Tim?" some may ask. Well, expanding markets can be a million things, but what I am referring to is if your business itself and your business potential (ideas, etc) has a chance to grow into other areas and countries around the world. Or do you have a pretty good idea/product/service that will just die out within 2-5 years due to it reaching its geographical or sub-population limits?

What this basically does is to require you to do your due diligence in reasearching whatever business opportunity that you come across to ensure that you will not be doomed from the second you start. You have to look at if you have the knowledge and/or resources to be able to monitor and maintain your business in a new setting.

For instance, if your business is in other countries besides the United States, are you screwed because you don't know the language? does your company run things the same way in all countries world wide? or are there some limitations in our markets? Can you market the same in all countries? What is the age limit for using your product or service? Is there an age limit? Who will be your remote site leader/project manager? Etc, etc.

This issue is something that I am working on personally, with breaking into the Mexico market. Since my company is in 14 countries world wide, there is vast potential for expansion, but I am just breaking off one piece of the puzzle at a time. Trying to make connections and serve those south of our border. I have been fortunate to have good success to date, but it is a constant learning curve.

Ok guys, I'll go ahead and end this now, but the take home point is to look for an expanding market. Don't pigeon hole yourself, and the opportunities will be endless.
