Caranddriver.com’s List of 10 Safe Cars Priced Lower Than $25,000

CARandDRIVER.com has recently presented its list of ten vehicles with efficient safety features that cost less than $25,000.

To be in the list, the car must meet the tough standards of Car and Driver. Their requirements include stability and control and a maximum of six airbags in the front and side curtains. These features are not standard on some vehicles and cost a little more, but though it cost some extras, they are still priced lower than $25,000.

The 2008 Saturn Astra of GM (factory manufacturer of GMC ball joint ), newly designed with rigid body structure with safety cage, six standard air bags, including dual-stage frontal air bags; roof rail head curtain air bags and thorax/pelvic air bags (front-seat passengers), active head restraints, collapsible pedals, front safety belt pretensioners and load limiters, Onstar with one year of safe & sound service.

The 2008 Scion xB features include anti-lock brakes that automatically sense when a tire has stopped rotating under extreme braking increasing the vehicle’s ability to turn while braking. It is also built with front-impact airbags, side impact airbags and overhead airbags that will support the occupant’s heads in events of collisions. The seatbelts pretensioners automatically tighten in cases of crash.

The 2008 Hyundai Sonata, safety features on all Sonatas include the mandatory dual-stage front-seat airbags; front-seat side-impact airbags for torso protection; and full-coverage side curtain airbags, antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and electronic stability control with traction control.

The 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit safety features that come standard on all models include anti-lock brakes, traction control, side-impact airbags for front-seat passengers for thorax protection and side-curtain airbags for head protection in a rollover or side impact. These are in addition to the federally mandated front airbags. Rear-passenger side-impact (thorax) airbags are optional ($350) and an electronic stability program ($450). Both front seats have head rests designed to minimize whiplash.

The 2007 Mini Cooper safety features on the new hardtop models include passive front and rear crumple zones and side-intrusion protection, six airbags, ABS anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, and Cornering Brake Control.

The 2007 Toyota Camry safety features on all models include the required frontal airbags, upper body-protecting side-impact airbags for the front seats, head-protecting side air curtains for front and rear seats, and a driver's knee airbag, which better positions the driver for controlling the car and for avoiding injury from the steering column. A tire pressure monitoring system, anti-lock brakes, brake assist, and electronic brake-force distribution comes standard.

The 2008 Volvo C30, safety features remain up to Volvo's excellent standards with front-, side-, side-curtain airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, whiplash protection, side-impact protection, and stability traction control.

2008 Dodge Charger safety features that come standard on all Charger models include antilock brakes, all-speed traction control and electronic stability control with brake assist.

The 2008 Honda Accord coupe benefits from Honda’s “Advanced Compatibility Engineering” body structure intended to optimize the dispersion of impact energies during frontal collisions and thus better protect occupants in the event of a crash with something other than another Accord.

The 2008 Mazda CX-7 features a dual front air bags (SRS)* and front side impact air bags, Front / rear side-impact air curtains with rollover protection, Front safety-belt pretensioners with force limiters, Tire Pressure Monitoring system (TPMS), Engine immobilizer anti-theft system, illuminated keyless entry with panic button.

These top ten cars have already been awarded top safety ratings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
